The essential "backbone" of YellowParts is the extremely comprehensive and professinal YellowParts software, which is used by YellowParts data vendors in their regular daily office work for multiple use of their product data. Actually, we are a rare mixture of a portal operator and a software house delivering comprehensive commercial application software to the user's desk-top - and combining both with one another.

YellowParts and CATpool software

The YellowParts software is essentially identical to the CATpool software, which is explained here in detail.

The core part of this software is Elestore, the product content management system, that has been in use in the main office of the Philips group of companies in Eindhoven in Holland since 2003 for the administration of around one million articles with several million technical attributes.

Differences between YellowParts and CATpool

There are several differences, which are explained here in detail. The main differences are these:

• YellowParts is for new business relations, CATpool is primarily for existing regular business
• CATpool is a business community system and for members only
• YellowParts is for the general public, it is multi-lingual, multi-national and often even local
• In YellowParts there is no obligation to upload product data
• YellowParts data vendors have no "duties" like CATpool data vendors have (see details here)
• YellowParts is open to CATpool members - but not vice versa, unless one becomes CATpool member
• CATpool primarily supports existing regular business relations while the goal of YellowParts is rather to establish new business relations

There are intentionally many similiarities between CATpool and YellowParts but also some clear distinctions. They both target different although often neighboring and frequently overlapping markets and usage areas.
